Annamaria Di Fabio, Chiara Burgassi

This study aims to take an in-depth look at the relationship between emotional intelligence and the construct of Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery (OFER), checking for the effects of personality traits. The Italian version of the Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery Scale (OFER), the Italian version of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short-Form (TEIQue-SF) and the Italian version of the HEXACO-60 were administered to 113 nurses. Findings suggest that emotional intelligence adds a significant percentage of incremental variance in addition to variances due to personality traits with respect to Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery. The results highlight the role of emotional intelligence and its relationship with Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery in particular, and offer new perspectives for research and intervention.
