Work values are pivotal for work satisfaction. This research aims at exploring psychometrics properties of Manhardt’s Work Values Inventory, to provide a short tool to measure work values. A sample of 223 students and recent graduates have filled out an Italian version of the scale. Dimensionality and internal consistency have been explored. Results show that the structural dimensions of the original scale have a good internal consistency. However, dimensionality analysis did not align with the three-dimension structure of the original scale, showing instead two factors referred to intrinsic (professional development and growth) and extrinsic (secure and structured job) work values. Limitations — related to sample characteristics and content of the items — and venues for further research are discussed.
