When Emotions Don’t Have a Voice

the methodology of social stories in the field of autism. In particular, it is focused on the treatment of school-aged children checked through a systematic review of literature from 2005 to 2021. The databases of the University of Parma were used for this purpose: the research was carried out through the insertion of key terms, excluding all those records that had been published before 2005, those not written in English and those that did not include participants who were children aged between 6 and 11 years old. The literature analysis has shown that studies on social stories are still not as numerous as those conducted in other rehabilitative areas in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), but many studies show how this method proves to be both useful and effective in improving the social skills of children with ASD and in reducing problem behaviours in these subjects.
