The present paper reports the Italian translation of the Early Emotion Regulation Behavior Questionnaire (henceforth EERBQ) (Perry and Dollar, 2021). Evidence has outlined that the regulation of negative emotions is the most determinant of typical socio-emotional development (Blair and Diamond, 2008). The parent-report 12-item questionnaire EERBQ contributes to filling the gap in the current literature on this topic. That is why it enables practitioners to better understand behavioural strategies for emotional regulation during early childhood and to learn the most common ones. In addition, it allows us to understand the relationship between the strategies used and the emotions experienced, and to understand the association between these strategies and social, emotional, and cognitive functioning. The EERBQ enables detection of early difficulties in emotional-behavioural regulation, thus informing intervention programmes. The back-translation process was in accordance with Beaton and colleagues (Beaton et al., 2000). After revisions by the authors of the questionnaire, they agreed to the publication of the Italian version of it.
