The Interaction Between Text Comprehension, Executive Functions and Self-Efficacy

The following article aims to investigate the existence of relationships between text comprehension and executive functions and between text comprehension and self-efficacy, through a literature review, with practical implications for clinical intervention. Recent studies highlight the correlation between text comprehension difficulties and frailty in executive functions, such as working memory, inhibition, and cognitive flexibility (Cain & Oakhill, 2007; Carretti et al., 2009). Regarding the role of self-efficacy in reading comprehension, it is reported that these are not closely related fields, in which self-efficacy constitutes a direct factor for academic achievement (Bandura, 1997). Finally, it presents the results of a pilot study on pupils aged between 10 and 13.
