Recommendations for the Use of Digital Tools in Daily Life in Pediatric Age

Raffaella Citro

The use of digital technologies in speech therapy is steadily increasing and is supported by scientific evidence. These tools are now used as support for in-person rehabilitation, tele-rehabilitation, compensatory tools for learning disabilities (LD), and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in childhood and adulthood across the lifespan. However, their use in daily life, especially in early childhood, remains a topic of debate. While some emphasize the potential risks to health and development, others highlight their educational and stimulating value. This paper examines recommendations issued in recent years by organizations and scientific societies, providing useful insights for speech therapists and other professionals supporting families in their guidance and decision-making.
