Clinical Trajectories in Early-Onset Schizophrenia

Zara Mehrnoosh, Sergio Messina, Roberta Rota

Schizophrenia is considered a complex clinical condition characterized by a chronic course, developmental delays, psychotic symptoms, behavioural changes, and neurocognitive and emotional deficits. It presents a clinical challenge, both in terms of aetiopathological classification and psychotherapeutic interventions. This article, through a brief review of the scientific literature and the presentation of a clinical example, aims to explore the developmental patterns that can characterize, with continuity or discontinuity, the relationship between neurodevelopmental dysfunctions in childhood and personality organization in adolescence, with reference to the clinical picture of schizophrenia.
