The House of Abilities in Calderara di Reno is an Inclusive Multidisciplinary Centre. It is based on the principles of neuroscience and neuro-pedagogy, characterized by an active and innovative pedagogy. It serves as a support for families in terms of services and parenting assistance. The centre is an innovative, interactive, and stimulating environment, full of initiatives designed to support every user of the facility and is connected with the metropolitan city’s territory, family associations, the AUSL (Local Health Authority), social services, and educational services. The centre offers a catalogue of specialized services that are part of a broader framework aimed at ensuring early, innovative, and technological interventions for issues related to childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and even people over eighty, promoting a balanced physical, psychological, and moral growth, as well as the full expression of individual potential. The centre provides specialized interventions through workshops and individual or small-group educational/therapeutic programmes, thanks to a team of 20 competent professionals. Additionally, a research project is underway in collaboration with the UOSI-Autism Spectrum Disorder Unit of Bologna (Institute of Neurological Sciences - Bologna Local Health Authority), the Faculty of Psychology of Bologna, the Municipality of Calderara di Reno, and the Cadiai cooperative, in order to assess the rehabilitative value of a combined sensory-motor and Snoezelen approach for children with autism spectrum disorders.
