«Enjoy the Difference»

The «Enjoy the Difference (ETD)» project arises from collaboration between teachers and students of the University of Turin and consists of an egalitarian coexistence between university students and youths with disabilities. Various institutional and informal parties have been involved right from the beginning, including the Local Council and a number of associations. This project is aimed at combining the different requirements of the area: on the one hand many students studying off campus have trouble finding accommodation at a reasonable price, seeing as rents in Turin — a university city — are particularly high. On the other hand, despite an effective policy of support offered by the social services, many young people with disabilities are unable to leave their parents’ home and set out into independent adult life. «Enjoy the Difference» is directed at creating real opportunities in the area in order to meet housing requirements, but also at offering opportunities for personal and cultural growth. For this reason, those who thought up and put into motion this project hope that it is integrated into the services the University offers its students.
