Disabilità intellettiva e avanzamento d’età: riscontri, paradossi e prospettive

Lucio Cottini

What happens when a person with an intellectual disability grows old?
This initial article of the monograph outlines the main findings obtained by analysing the literature on ageing, with the aim of setting out the assumptions to define the intervention guidelines. Indeed, old-age is to be considered a period of opportunity and vulnerability that needs to be supported by specific sustaining actions, principally of an educational and social nature, in order to be lived in full by persons with an intellectual disability.
