The PCTO from an Inclusive Perspective to promote the life project
Valentina Paola Cesarano, Giorgia Ruzzante
The program of Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation (PCTO), included within the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), can play a fundamental role in fostering inclusion and in building an authentic life project for students with disabilities. By connecting school, family, services, and the world of work, the PCTO becomes a tool that enables the development of transversal skills, strengthens self-determination, and promotes sustainable employability. This article offers both a theoretical and practical reflection on the inclusive meaning of the PCTO, analyzing barriers and facilitators and presenting possible strategies to enhance the desires, aspirations, and potential of students, with a view to personalized guidance and the construction of a conscious adulthood.
