Towards a new inclusive IEP

Dario Ianes, Heidrun Demo

The IEP can represent an extremely important and topical planning tool. In this paper we shall describe how, in our view, the IEP can become a fully inclusive tool, dealing not only with disability but also with the entire class and school context; not only with school but also with family and social participation in the many diverse life contexts; and, lastly, enhancing self-determination processes. It is with this in mind that we would like to highlight how the IEP, in order to be inclusive, must embrace a forward-looking vision and give voice to pupils with disabilities.
