Detention and exit from prison

Luca Decembrotto

The interventions aimed at the social reintegration of people in prison are one of the unresolved issues of the detention system. This criticality of practices, insufficient or absent, also originates in the ambiguity that the term «reeducation» involves, still more directed to induce a change through discipline than structure opportunities for personal emancipation and construction of community ties. This paper presents the results obtained of an exploratory research held in Bologna among the homeless, showing a link between the exit from prison without planning and the subsequent condition of life. Some community-oriented and inclusive design coordinates are also suggested.
