Boundaries as places supporting innovation: A happy story of collaboration between universities and work organisations

Cristina Zucchermaglio, Lorenza Ferrai

The paper analyses an example of successful collaboration between universities and work organisations, following its inception, evolution and development. On the one hand, it highlights the results produced in terms of educational and training actions and, on the other hand, the factors that have contributed most to supporting it. These include: the possibility of working within a wide time horizon; the flexibility of the demand for collaboration but also its progressive institutionalisation; the artefacts produced and the mediator figures involved in the work on the boundaries of different communities.
