The article aims to provide an overview of the topic of sibling relationships in a family with a disabled member, in particular, by highlighting how the change to the study approach adopted by the researchers produced a new awareness of the subject. Moreover, reference is made, albeit briefly, to the Italian and United States experience gained by several supporting groups for siblings of disabled persons that, although with different methods, underline the importance of comparing and exchanging emotions among those experiencing a similar condition as being functional to a serene acceptance of the personal family situation.
