The culture of integration for persons with disabilities through access to the workplace has developed over the years, thanks to the contribution of persons who have revealed the complexity, but at the same time, the need for this process. If, as Montobbio maintains, having an identity means having a history, it is important to consider all the aspects, even the most disturbing aspects, which have characterised the history of persons with disabilities in the Western world during the past century. In particular, a consideration is developed concerning the extermination of the disabled and the mentally ill during Nazism from 1939 to 1945, an event that has still not been fully investigated, above all among the «social» operators, and the dramatic equation: productive disabled person/nonproductive disabled person.
