Le persone non vedenti visitano l’acquario: riflessioni sugli esiti di una sperimentazione
Filippo Dettori
The article describes an experimental tour of the aquarium in Cala Gonone (NU) by a group of blind and partially sighted people. The programme, which was thought up by the managers of the aquarium and a researcher in special pedagogy from the University of Sassari, in collaboration with the directors of the Unione Italiana Ciechi (Italian Union of the Blind), was designed to allow the visually impaired to discover marine flora and fauna using touch, smell and hearing. Participants’ thoughts were aired in a focus group, which highlighted the strengths and criticalities of the experiment. These were taken on board by the aquarium staff for the organisation of future visits.
Participants’ positive feedback resulted in aquarium management placing the tour for the blind on their calendar of didactic events. In fact, since April 2013 a «special» tour has been made available to all those requesting it.
