LA COMUNICAZIONE AUMENTATIVA ALTERNATIVA IN CHIAVE EVOLUTIVA: UN APPROCCIO INTEGRATO PERLA CONQUISTA DELL’INTENZIONALITÀ

This article describes a theoretical and practical intervention model using focused activities and appropriate tools belonging to Augmented and Alternative Communication. It supports motivation for growth by promoting intentional behaviour and participation. The theoretical framework explores referral theories that clarify a child’s different developmental stages. The practical model also presents a dynamic evaluation and integrated intervention that consists in four successive phases (sensory, exploratory/request, representative and declarative). The article includes a clinical case study that allows for some feedback on the CAA method including signals that can indicate its efficiency in order to improve clinical practice.
