Zygmunt Bauman e il bisogno di educazione interculturale
Agostino Portera
Globalisation and world interdependence have caused drastic challenges at economic, political, legal and cultural levels, modifying the manner of generating and spending wealth, the political power of Nation States, and the identities and relational systems of individual citizens. As a result, huge crises have arisen in many areas of life, especially the aforementioned. In particular, a profound educational crisis is occurring within educational institutions such as family and school, which in turn gives rise to a broad pedagogical crisis within the academic fields which reflect on education. The central thesis of this article is that, in order to overcome many of the contemporary crises, there is a desperate need to start by reinvesting in culture, education and pedagogy from an intercultural perspective. In the following pages, this thesis will be firmly supported also with insights from an interview with the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, inventor of the liquid society.
