Speech Intervention on Adults with a Specific Learning Disorder

Specific learning disorders consist of deficits in reading, writing and calculating correctly and fluently. They occur at the beginning of schooling, in response to increased environmental demands. It is expected that the number of cases identified each year will grow, in conjunction with the increase in the number of people with SLDs who continue their school career up to university. The main goal of this study was to explore the clinical features of a university student with dyslexia and dysorthography who attempted speech therapy treatment, in order to show its effectiveness. The post-treatment re-evaluation of the deficient abilities showed a significant improvement in all areas of impairment, which is a predictive index of the effectiveness of speech therapy for specific learning disorders even in adulthood.
