A Metaphorical machine called the body

Dorella Cianci

The body «acts» in time, in society and in dress, declining its metaphorical use. In this sense, the paideia of the body, in the Greek world, has become an emblematic case: the Greeks were the first to elaborate bodies with words. The metaphorical use of the body has therefore been the interpretative key of yesterday and today. And tomorrow? Are we really on the threshold of a change of perspective? Does the digital age ask bodies to redefine their use? Or is the body the only dividing line, which will always make new technologies partial? Will what is digital always be corporeal first?
