Beyond the Traditional Classroom: The Impact of e-Learning Platforms on Skills Development
Davide Richard Bramley
E-learning has revolutionised the education system, offering new opportunities for teaching and learning in secondary schools. These online platforms facilitate access to educational resources and promote the acquisition of digital, self-learning and collaboration skills, which are crucial in today’s educational and working environment, especially due to the multiple changes to which society and the labour market are continuously subjected. To delve into this issue, a literature review was conducted that was more interested in the possible integration of these platforms within secondary schools, going to grasp which aspects, advantages and criticalities could emerge by promoting a greater use of these online tools within the specific school context proposed in reflection. Among the most important elements, it is worth mentioning in the first place the promotion of autonomy in study, a central aspect promoted by e-learning, fostering the development of time management skills and self-discipline. In addition to this, a conscious use of these digital tools would facilitate collaboration between students through forums, chats and virtual group work, developing team working skills and the sharing of ideas and proposals, as well as favouring more personalised learning and allowing them to delve more deeply into themes or topics considered to be of greater interest.
