Teaching Conversation Skills and Behaviours
Claudia Spadaro, Maria Erica Lacerenza
We first selected the conversation topics preferred by the pupils and selected 3 target behaviours related to the area of social skills for each participant. Then the baseline phase for each participant started on the 3 target behaviours selected for 3 consecutive sessions. Thus began the training that included the explanation of the importance of learning these skills, the presentation of different video modelling interventions (5 for each target behaviour), a rehearsal or live testing phase and finally the delivery of specific or corrective descriptive feedback according to the progress of the trial. The research design chosen is a multiple baseline across behaviours for each participant. The procedure selected from the literature has proved to be effective in teaching the target behaviours chosen.
