Mand is a verbal operant in which a person asks for what they need or want. This skill is often lacking in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This review examines contributions in literature from 2011 to February 2021 that investigate the effectiveness of interventions designed to promote the production of new mand and the production of different mand used to request the same reinforcer in subjects with an age range of 2 to 12 years. We analysed the studies following the Prism protocol, a guide for improving the integrity and reviewing of reviews and meta-analyses. We included a total of 41 studies with participants ranging in age from 2 to 12 years. Analysis of the studies shows that the most frequently used strategies involve manipulating motivational operations. Results are discussed in terms of implications for practice.
