Autism, Job Placement and Interior Design: the Experience of «Bistrani» Bistrot in Turin

In a semi-peripheral district of Turin, an association that has been dealing with autism for several years, opened a bistrot whose main purpose is the employment of young people belonging to the autistic spectrum, in the theoretical reference of Capability Approach. The cafè, which also serves as a training and informative place on issues related to autism, required a careful preparation of guys and operators involved. Finally, the location’s restructuring and layout required an exchange of skills between the professionals responsible for the project and the interior designer, essential to create a context that is not hostile to the children involved.
