The Impact of Lipoedema on Mental Health

Valentina Bassi, Alberto Onorato, Nerina Fabbro

Findings indicated that participants with lipoedema reported significantly lower psychological well-being and higher levels of depression, eating disorder, and perceived stress compared to controls. Furthermore, psychological inflexibility and cognitive distortions were significantly correlated with all indicators of well-being. These findings emphasize the psychological impact of lipoedema and underscore the importance of targeted, multidisciplinary interventions to address both physical and mental health outcomes in affected individuals.
