Measuring abilities to stay focused on the present: Italian validation of the «Mindful Attention Awareness Scale»

Elisa Rabitti, Giovanni Miselli, Paolo Moderato

Over the last few years a growing body of research has demonstrated that mindfulness-based
interventions are associated with an enhancement of psychological well-being. Among the tools
developed with the intent of measuring the components of attention and awareness which form a part
of the concept of mindfulness, one of the most widely used questionnaires is the Mindful Attention
Awareness Scale (MAAS), developed by Brown and Ryan (2003). This article aims to present the Italian
validation of the scale and the psychometric properties of the translated tool.
