Oskar Schindler’s contributions to phoniatry are noteworthy. First of all, he proposed a non-fragmented vision of his own field of activity. Second, because of his interdisciplinary vocation, Italians clinicians had the chance to relate with foreign groups of phoniatricians. Third, his clinical capacity to operate continuous bridging between branches of scientific knowledge and human sciences lead to a new vision of phoniatry. There are numerous aspects in which Oskar Schindler’s contributions were fundamental. From the development of artistic, clinical and professional vocology, to his support in the development of an Italian school of phonosurgery. Last but not least, the multidimensional approach to dysphonic patients proposed by Oskar Schindler laid the foundations for the holistic assessment that become the basis of today’s Italian clinical phoniatric practice. In this article the phoniatric areas prof. Schindler influenced the most have been analyzed.
