Attentional Engagement in Speech-Timing
Caterina Apruzzese, Zaira Buttaccio Tardio
The following paper aims to summarize some of the most recent studies on speech planning and programming, read and interpreted from the perspective of analysing the reciprocal influence between speech and prosody. Moreover, prosodic components are closely correlated with the temporal aspects of speech, creating a network of reciprocal influences not only between prosodic structure and verbal production but also within an integrated system that includes timing. Information of a temporal nature, therefore, assumes a new role in the discussion on speech, becoming an active component in understanding the characteristics of childhood apraxia of speech.
