The Medical History Analysis of a Case of Post-Stroke Aphasia in Acute Phase

Sara Mesce, Simona Raimondo

An accurate anamnesis is at the base of the diagnosis for each patient: in Speech Therapy this is also recommended for the patient with aphasia, in whatever rehabilitative-care phase and clinical setting. Because of the absence in literature of an updated instrument dedicated to the anamnesis of patients with aphasia post-stroke in acute phase, it has been made from the beginning an anamnestic protocol. The analysis of the usability judgment, obtained by a sample of speech therapists who are university tutor and who have clinical experience with aphasia, is positive: the model seems complete in contents and graphically well organized, with good prospects of use in the clinical practice. The protocol Specific anamnesis for aphasia post-stroke in acute phase could therefore represent an innovative reference in the collection of anamnestic data for aphasia in acute phase. However, additional studies are recommended in order to establish the level of applicability of this model as well as its validity.
