European Project COST Action IS1406 «Enhancing Children’s Oral Language Skills Across Europe and Beyond»: A Survey
Raffaella Citro, Francesca Mollo
The European project COST Action IS1406, «Enhancing children’s oral language skills across Europe and beyond», has among its main outputs the design of an international survey on interventions on Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and then its diffusion and the analysis of the results. Remaining simple and accessible for clinicians of all levels and with different back-grounds from different countries, the survey was translated into 32 languages and collected detailed information from 5,024 professionals from 57 countries, 606 of them from Italy, thus becoming the widest and most extensive survey ever conducted on the subject. Results are being analyzed, which provide us with a picture of what is the response to the rehabilitative needs of children with DLD in Europe today. This article describes the methodology of the survey and the preliminary results on the main features of the professionals involved and of the children receiving the intervention, on the choice of the type of intervention and on its financing.
