Aphasia: The text content of ISO-SPREAD Guidelines

Cristina Flosi, Patrizia Consolmagno

The Stroke Prevention and Educational Awareness Diffusion (SPREAD) Guidelines for stroke were among the first Italian guidelines on the subject to be nationally and internationally recognised. For more than two decades, these guidelines have been the reference point for every stakeholder. From 2013, after a transition period, the SPREAD group has been reconstituted as the Italian Stroke Organization (ISO). Currently, the SPREAD Guidelines are organised in 21 chapters, one of which is entirely focused on intervention. For a number of years, even after the revisions every 2 years, only the key recommendations have been favoured at the publishing stage, without the full content and occasionally without key summaries due to editorial reasons. Since these omitted sections are core to understanding and guiding good practice with patients, we would like to offer our colleagues and those interested in the subject, the opportunity to examine the unpublished sections, which have already been approved at ISO-SPREAD.
