In the paper is discussed a case report and the experience of our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team conducted at the department of the Paediatric Cardiac Surgery and Congenital Heart Disease Unit — Regional Heart Transplant Centre — of the AO dei Colli Monaldi Hospital in Naples. The narration of the clinical case aims to contribute to the dissemination of a new scenario in the field of cardiac surgery rehabilitation in paediatric age, which calls for the official recognition of rehabilitation professionals in possession of high skills, including the figure of the speech and language pathologist, whose integration is not yet provided for in our organizational model, despite the fact that specific professional intervention is frequently required.
