Remote Speech Assessment in Childhood and Adolescence

FLI, ASIL

In Italy, speech therapy was usually conducted almost exclusively face-to-face until the spread of Coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown period. The sudden pandemic crisis profoundly changed speech language pathologists’ activity and strongly encouraged the spread of telepractice, which is still widely used today. The use of a remote modality of treatment needs specific guidelines in order to identify appropriate tools and procedures. One example is the recent set of guidelines for telemedicine services approved by the Ministry of Health (2022). In this paper, valuable instructions useful for the remote approach have been collected for speech assessment, with reference to the long experience of the international scientific community.
