A Deceptive Recovery
Anna Giulia De Cagno
Language difficulties very frequently persist in adolescence, with important cognitive, communicative, adaptive and psychological consequences. Hence the increasingly felt need in clinical practice to have procedures and instruments that are able to specifically assess their characteristics and resulting impact in everyday life, emphasising the urgency of considering this aspect. Thanks to a detailed assessment, it is possible to plan targeted interventions that are adapted to the specific needs of the individual, which thus improve their communicative abilities and overall well-being. This type of assessment also supports teachers and school staff in adapting teaching methods and providing the necessary support to students with language difficulties. In addition, it contributes to improving the adolescent’s social and interpersonal skills, better preparing them for future success in both academic and professional spheres. In essence, language assessment during adolescence is a crucial step in ensuring an individual’s optimal improvement and development during this crucial phase of life.
