Laura Bertozzini, Federica Bologna

Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a neurological childhood (paediatric) speech sound disorder in which the precision and consistency of movements underlying speech are impaired, with consequences on the ability to coordinate movements for speech production. CAS is a complex disorder which is getting more and more attention from numerous studies with scientific evidence. This paper intends to describe the speech and language assessment of children with CAS and to offer a view of the treatments based on the principles of motor learning.
