Narration and Embodied Cognition

Embodied cognition represents an extended area of study and research in different disciplines. The following article aims to explain the connection between embodied cognition and narration, involving neuroscience, neuropsychology and literary studies within an interdisciplinary approach, and to highlight the role of sensorimotor experiences in the understanding and construction of stories. The outlined process begins with the illustration of the 4E (embodied, enacted, embedded, extended) approach to embodied cognition in order to explore, through embodied language, the spatio-temporal coordinates of narration.
