Il doppio vincolo dell’accoglienza dei minori in Italia

Lavinia Bianchi

The migration of unaccompanied children is one of the sectors of the complex universe that has characterised migratory movements starting from the Arab spring of 2011: for the first time, the Italian reception system is having to manage the educational, training and care needs of children from Egypt, Gambia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Albania. In order to describe a panorama characterised by «partial coherence» and epistemological temporariness, the methodology of the constructivist Grounded Theory (GT) was chosen. The research target is not to verify existing theories, but to elaborate a substantive theory for realising facilities regarding the UMC context, which can serve as a reference of good practices and result in action lines for educators operating in such fields. The first emerging nodes and categories give account of the conflict between the migrants’ aims and those of the social workers. In theorising, both the state's laws and the double media representation of the phenomenon and the young migrant's aspirations and the work of the staff who implement reception system practices daily are taken into account.
