Due Dj e un’antropologa. Etnografia di una festa in un Centro di Accoglienza Straordinario

Maddalena Gretel Cammelli, Michele Restuccia

This article contributes to the debate over the complexity and dilemmas of working in Italian immigration policies for asylum seekers, through the narration of a co-creation process aimed at organising a community party in a temporary reception centre for asylum seekers. Some interesting features emerge in narrating the process, the party and the actual dynamics which unfolded through the co-creation process: how the asylum seekers became involved; the relationships among those living in the same centre; the relationship between the centre and its neighbours; and the hurdles and the opportunities that emerged from organising such processes within a centre in relation to the support provided by the centre’s staff. In this article we will analyse the problems, difficulties and opportunities which emerged in adopting a co-creation practice inside Temporary Reception Centres. On the one hand, we will highlight the constraints generated by bureaucracy and regulations and on the other hand, we will discuss the transformative impact of such process, experienced at the same time by many players: asylum seekers, researchers, social workers and members of the local community.
